Downwind marathon

Sailors around the world like to get the kind of downwind speed training necessary to compete at the highest level.  They need a facility where downwind training can take place without wasting a lot of energy and time on corresponding upwinds.

In Cabarete, the regularity of the trade winds direction, allows to either trailer boats upwind from the training center for a 15 mile Downwind clinic back to Cabarete, or pick up boats at Sosua Beach after sailing downwind from the training center for three hours.

Custom groups now are choosing to include one day of downwind training in their clinics, where coaches and safety boats can follow the fleet on its downwind trek, taking video and providing immediate, on-the-water coaching advice. The runs are broken up into sections of approximately 10 to 15 minutes by beam and broad reaches in order to keep the clinic effective and interesting. If you would like to do a downwinder, please include a request  in your custom group package. The Downwinder is limited to ten (10) Lasers, and incurs and additional cost.
