Three (3) programs to choose from, (listed under the video).
Joy ride and introduction to Sailing (1 hour):
The Introduction to Sailing session is an hour long joyride with an instructor to discover the delights of sailing. You will be taken out in the clubs exciting new sailboat the Laser Bahia and given a chance to trim the sails and crew the boat or you can just sit back and let the instructor do all the work.
Fees: 1 person $50, 2 people $60, 3 people when crew weight permits is $70.
Discover Sailing Course (6 hours):
A course designed for complete beginners or for those who have been in a boat before but want to learn how it’s really done. We take two adults and up to 3 youth out with an instructor in our Laser Bahia into the sheltered water just off the beach for 3 x 2hr sessions spread over 3 days.
Session 1: Intro
- Safety and Equipment
- Parts of the boat
- Wind Awareness
- Sailing Position
- Tacking from Reach to Reach (across the wind)
Session 2: Basics
- Rigging, Launching & Landing
- Controlling speed & stopping
- Capsize Recovery
- Theory Session including basic knots, Rules of the road and terminology
Session 3: The Points of Sailing
- Upwind & downwind sailing
- The No Go Zone · Gybing
Fees per/person: 1 person $300, 2 people $180 (each). The Laser Bahia is a great boat to learn how to sail on, and is a perfect step for one who wants to move on to the Olympic Laser dinghy.
Laser to Laser Coaching ( 2 hours):
An advanced Laser sailor will sail next to you. Demonstrate how to handle the boat correctly, than guide and correct you from his own Laser. Laser to Laser are two hour sessions, and we recommend to take at least four (4) days of this program. The on the water sessions are no more than two hours long.
Fees per/person/session: $180 includes the two Lasers, and the coach.
