Introduction to Sailing:
The Introduction to Sailing session is an hour long joyride with an instructor to discover the delights of sailing. You will be taken out in the clubs exciting new sailboat the Laser Bahia and given a chance to trim the sails and crew the boat or you can just sit back and let the instructor do all the work.

Beginner Sailing Course:
A course designed for complete beginners or for those who have been in a boat before but want to learn how it’s really done. We take up to 3 People out with an instructor in our Laser Bahia into the sheltered water just off the beach for 3 x 2hr sessions spread over 3 days.
Session 1: Intro
· Safety and Equipment
· Parts of the boat
· Wind Awareness
· Sailing Position
· Tacking from Reach to Reach (across the wind)
Session 2: Basics
· Rigging, Launching & Landing
· Controlling speed & stopping
· Capsize Recovery
· Theory Session including basic knots, Rules of the road and terminology
Session 3: The Points of Sail
· Upwind & downwind sailing
· The No Go Zone
· Gybing

Fees per/person: 1 person $200.00 2 people $160.00 3 people $120.00 (The Laser Bahia can easily sail with instructor and three students).

Intermediate Sailing Course:

If you are comfortable sailing on all points of sail and want to improve your sailing, learn some maneuvers and be introduced to racing then this is the next step up. The course will be run in either our Laser Bahia or in Laser 1s/Optimists or a mixture of the two for 3 x 2hr sessions spread over 3 days.
Session 1: Improving your Sailing
· Points of Sailing recap & sailing around a triangular course
· The 5 Essentials
Session2: Maneuvers
· Leaving & returning to a beach
· Coming alongside
· Rigging, Reefing & Storage
Session 3: Getting Competitive
· Theory including basic aerodynamic theory, meteorology, tides and knots
· The Rules of the Road
· An introduction to racing

Private clinic with coach:
Sailors usually know what they need to improve on. If one is not sure, we run our own evaluation session. Park the boat 30 seconds head to wind next to a buoy, tack three times in a row, or jibe around a mark. Together we will figure out what the priorities are. Private clinics are run Monday to Thursday. To improve on boat handling, we use both On-board and Video cameras. It is amazing how fast one can improve when they see themselves on the screen.
A sailing day here is usually as follows:
10:30 AM rigging.
11:00 AM Briefing, setting goals for the day, and when needed watching videos of the world's top Laser sailors.
11:30 AM sailing. We usually sail 2-3 hours depends on conditions and sailor's endurance.
14:30 PM lunch break.
After lunch debriefing, and video analysis.

Fees for private coaching are as follows:
Coaching $300.00 a day. (Can be split between up to 4 sailors, who come together).
Coach boat: $130.00 a day + gasoline.
Laser charter $70.00 a day. The charter includes hull, spars, blades and dolly. We ask that each sailor bring all control lines w/pulleys, sail, and tiller w/ext. This allows our coach to see exactly how they rig back home and offer advice when needed.

Bring your own coach:
If you are a coach with a group of sailors, or a Sailing Federation we have the program for you. Take advantage of our set up and Cabarete's great venue. Call or e-mail for more information.

Group Clinics:
We try to run the group clinics for sailors of similar level. If you would like to join one of our clinics, please send us an e mail info@caribwind.com <mailto:info@caribwind.com> letting us know of your interest to participate in a group clinic. We will respond with a few questions, to see what group you will fit in best. Group clinics are usually 4 days long. Fees are $480.00 per person for coaching, and $280.00 for Laser charter. The charter includes hull, spars, blades and dolly. We ask that each sailor bring all control lines w/pulleys, sail, and tiller w/ext. This allows our coach to see exactly how they rig back home and offer advice when needed. For those who do not own a laser we offer sail lines, and alu. tiller w/extension for $50.00 a week.

Boat Rental:
All our boats are in race ready condition, with all the deck upgrade kits. You love sailing the Laser, and just want to sail a few hours a day while enjoying a relaxing vacation. No problem! We rent the Lasers off the beach for $40.00 an hour or $70.00 a day for at least two consecutive days. If you plan to come and just sail, it is recommended to reserve a Laser in advance.
